The benchmark runs in CBA mode and OLC mode automatically produce .asm, .ssa, .sti, and .sto SSASIM output files. All other SSASIM output files must be explicitly requested in a run specification file using SSASIM input parameters located in the OUTPUT table. The benchmark runs in CBA mode also automatically produce five output files related to exemplary cohort individuals, which should be handled using the ECI Toolkit.
All SSASIM output files can be viewed and/or compared via the RSF Toolkit Analyze menu.
All SSASIM output files are listed below:
.ACT
file contains aggregate social security individual account
statistics by decade for each scenario.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.ASM file contains average, post-transition values for fifteen key assumption variables for each scenario.
.AST file contains annual values of fifteen key assumption variables for one simulation scenario that is specified by the SSASIM OUTPUT.ast_sc input parameter.
.ASX file contains values of fifteen key assumption variables for each scenario in one simulation year that is specified by the SSASIM OUTPUT.asx_yr input parameter.
.BEN file contains numbers of beneficiaries for OASI and DI for each calendar year from RUN.year_zero on in each scenario, as well as AWI, CPI, and MTE-related parameters for each calendar year in each scenario.
.BID
file contains number of native births and volume of net
immigration for each birth cohort born from 1935 on for each
scenario.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.BN?
files (.BND/.BNR) contain aggregate DI/OASI beneficiary and
average benefit results by decade.
NOTE: these output files are not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.CAD file contains annual capital market statistics for one scenario that is specified by the SSASIM OUTPUT.cad_sc input parameter.
.CAP file contains capital market statistics by decade for each scenario.
.COH
file contains life-expectancy and low-benefit thresholds for
cohort individuals born in COHORT.birth_year.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.C??
files contain social security money's worth statistics for
exemplary cohort couples specified in the SSASIM INDS and IND
tables using the ECI Toolkit.
NOTE: these output files are not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.C?F/.C?M
files contain social security money's worth statistics for
exemplary cohort individuals specified in the SSASIM INDS and IND
tables using the ECI Toolkit.
NOTE: these output files are not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.CXH
file contains identity of cohort individuals and couples, and the
output file name containing results for each individual and
couple, all of which information is used by the ECI Toolkit,
which is the best way to work with exemplary cohort individuals
and couples.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.DF? files (.DFC/.DFD/.DFR) contain annual values of OASDI/DI/OASI trust fund statistics for one scenario specified by the SSASIM OUTPUT.dfc_sc, OUTPUT.dfd_sc, and OUTPUT.dfr_sc input parameters.
.ESD file contains annual aggregate establishment (that is, economy-wide) statistics for each year of one scenario specified by the SSASIM OUTPUT.esd_sc input parameter.
.EST
file contains aggregate establishment (that is, economy-wide)
statistics by decade for each scenario.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.LAB
file contains aggregate labor market stastics by decade for each
scenario.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.MRD
file contains values for age- and gender-specific mortality rates
for each year of each scenario.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.OLC
file contains aggregate values for each birth cohort at every age.
NOTE: this output file is available only in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.PAY file contains values of payable-benefits percents for the OASI and DI program for each scenario year until the end of the actuarial test period. This output file is most often used to simulate payable (as opposed to scheduled) social security benefits. For details, see SSASIM input parameter documentation on RUN.paypctfile, OUTPUT.pay, and OUTPUT.pay_preyears.
.PFP file contains PIA formula parameters for each year of each scenario.
.POD file contains population statistics for each year of each scenario.
.POP
file contains population statistics by decade for each scenario.
NOTE: this output file is not available in the OLC
mode of model operation.
.PRD file contains CPI index values by decade for each scenario.
.SSA file contains program solvency statistics for OASI, DI, and OASDI trust funds for each scenario.
.STI file contains annual values of fifteen key assumption variables and three asset rates of return for each scenario year until the end of the actuarial period. See SSASIM input parameter documentation of TRND_MV table and the Operations section of the "Getting Started with the RSF Toolkit" for details on how to control the values of these assumption variables.
.STO file contains annual values for income rate, cost rate, and trust-fund ratio, for the combined OASDI program and for the OASI and DI programs separately, for each scenario year until the end of the actuarial period. And only when the SSASIM OUTPUT.sto_dollar input parameter is true, it also contains annual dollar income and cost amounts, plus taxable earnings and GDP in nominal dollars.
